Jon Lloyd Bronnenberg
November 16, 1938-December 2, 2024

Jon Lloyd Bronnenberg, 86 of Markleville, Indiana, passed away on December 2, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Jon was born on November 16, 1938, in Anderson, to John and Neva Ann (Fosnot) Bronnenberg. He married Esther Gay (Small), his wife of 56 years in Elwood on June 26, 1968.

He graduated from Markleville High School in 1956 and worked at various jobs in Indiana. He was a lineman for the Electric Company of Middletown, and worked construction all over the state of Indiana, for Bob Wills and Company. He also, retired from Delco Remy division of General Motors after 36 years, retiring in 1999. He grain farmed his whole adult life, as well as raised cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys and Thoroughbred horses. He dearly loved the outdoors and his passion for hunting, trapping, fishing and farming was passed on to his children and grandchildren. He spent a few years making and perfecting Maple syrup at the family "Sugar Camp" in his woods. He raised colts and raced a few Thoroughbred horses at Hoosier Park in Anderson, Ellis Park in Evansville, Shelbyville Raceway, Churchhill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky and Fairway Park in Illinois.

He loved to write poetry.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; John and Neva Ann Bronnenberg; brothers, Cletis, Paul, Pete and Cecil; sisters, Zella Shirey, Julia Ashlock, Gretchen Stohler and Sara Lucinda Bronnenberg; and other family, Donnie Ridge, Troy Milles and Jessica Hahn.

He is survived by his wife, Esther Bronnenberg whom he married in Elwood on June 26, 1968; one sister, Nina Bronnenberg; seven children, Joy (Russ) Striebeck of Fairfield, Ohio, Jon (Christy) Bronnenberg of Warren, Mike (Linda) Bronnenberg of Newton, Alabama, Brennet Noble of Amarillo, Texas, Brian Bronnenberg of Middletown, Joni Burnett of Anderson, Jerri Gaw of Anderson; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Saturday, December 14, 2024 at noon at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, at 200 West 46th Street, Anderson, IN 46013 with Bishop Matthew Kimberlin and Todd Hovermale officiating.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 12 noon at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
