John Michael LaTerz, age 77, of North Reading MA & Cape Coral FL, passed away on November 30, 2024.
Mike was born on 9/18/1947 to William and Margaret “Moc” LaTerz in Boston, MA.
Mike studied Business at Bentley College where he obtained his Baccalaureate Degree.
Mike had a prestigious career as Vice President at Hood Milk in Charlestown and the Boston Redevelopment Authority. Mike met the love of his life, Liz while working at Hood Milk. The romance developed when Mikey the consummate bachelor was dining alone at the Front Page in Charlestown. Liz recognized “John” from work and went over to keep him company, as she hated to see people eating alone. When they met, they had no knowledge of how close our families were linked already. This love was simply meant to be, it was written in the stars. When Liz’s Mom, Treece moved to Charlestown at the age of 25 from Ireland, she lived in a cold water flat on Mystic Street with her uncle on the second floor. Mike and his family lived on the third floor. Treece taught Mikey Latin so that he could become an alter server at St. Francis De Sales. So when “John” came to the door at 49 Chappie Street to pick Liz up for a date and Treece opened the door and yelled “Mikey!” and gave him a hug, Liz knew she had the right guy.
Liz and Mike had many adventures of travel together and with friends. They bought a second home in New Hampshire that was enjoyed by family and friends. Many fond memories were made at this home that became known as Sleepy Hollow. When Liz and Mike retired, they then purchased another home in Cape Coral. This home as well was always filled with family and friends receiving 5-star treatment with again many loving memories filled with laughter. This home became known as Paradise Found. As Liz & Mike grew older, they wanted to be closer to family and friends and moved to North Reading to North Ridge. At North Ridge, they enjoyed the proximity of family and made many new friends in this very supportive and caring community. When Liz passed suddenly in July, part of Mikey did as well. Battling advanced Alzheimer’s Disease already, this immense loss seemed to make the disease progress much faster. Mikey lived at Artis Memory Care in Reading after Liz’s death. The Artis family and his private caregivers took loving care of Mikey during his brief stay there. Mikey passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
Mike and Liz had a love like no other. They are together again in each other’s loving arms.
Mike was predeceased by his loving wife Liz LaTerz; his Mom & Dad, Margaret “Moc” & William and his Brother in law, Larry Conroy.
