Thomas J. “Tom” Moore, Sr., 65, of Worcester, a devoted father, beloved family member, and loyal friend died Saturday, November 30th in UMASS Memorial Hospital – University Campus surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with Leukemia. He leaves his children, Jessica Brock, and her husband, Darren, Melissa Moore, and her partner Aaron Baxter, and Thomas J. Moore, Jr. all of Worcester; eight grandchildren, Brennen Moore, Brandon Charest, Jr., Angelise Moore, Shyla and Tiara Simoncini, Shay and Nino Baxter, and Drea Brock; two brothers, Bill Moore and his wife, Donna of Cherry Valley, and Dennis Moore and his spouse, Elena Delivorias of Springfield; three sisters, Susan Wilder of Auburn, Debra Raymond and her husband, Joe of Holden, and Patricia Moore of Worcester; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his dog, Frankie who meant the world to Tom.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Ralph and Carol (Sullivan) Moore and graduated from North High School. Growing up Tom found a love for playing sports, especially baseball. He continued playing touch football and softball into adulthood. Aside from excelling at sports, his unwavering support for his children both as a coach or spectator continued with his grandchildren. Grampy was their biggest fan and could be found at every game with his best buddy Frankie at his side.
A devoted fan of Boston sports, Thomas embraced the region’s spirited culture. He loved exploring the beaches of Cape Cod and Hampton Beach, and his passion for traveling took him both abroad and across the United States. Thomas’s love for live music and concerts brought vibrancy to his life, and he took pride in celebrating his Irish heritage. His appreciation for antiques and history, particularly local history, enriched his understanding of the world around him. Above all, Tom cherished the time spent with his family. His warmth, encouragement, and love will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5thfrom 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue followed by his funeral service in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester. In lieu of memorial contributions may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, P.O. Box 22324, New York, New York, 10087.
