Robert Joseph Brayer, 85, of Ventura, California, passed away November 23, 2024. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on March 15, 1939, Robert was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He graduated from St. Anthony's Elementary School and North Catholic High School in Millvale, PA. On March 3, 1962, Robert married Mariann Sippel at St. Ann's Church in Millvale. Their 56 years of marriage took them through life in Millvale, Shaler, and Verona, Pennsylvania.
Robert was the loving father of four children: Robert J. (Bethann) Brayer, Jr. of Bloomington, OH; Christopher (Natalie) Brayer of Verona, PA; Jennifer (William) Hollowell of Ventura, CA: and Kathleen Brayer-Seese of Verona, PA. He was a proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: Robert Brayer, III, Bryan Brayer, Benjamin Brayer, Kaitlyn Doucette-Brayer, Samantha Hollowell, Riley Hollowell, and Levi Seese. He was also a great-grandfather to one great-granddaughter, Marnie Brayer.
Robert had a diverse and successful career. He began at United Engineering before venturing into business ownership, running a beer distribution business and later an auto parts store. His career also included owning a delivery business for the Pittsburgh Press and being a landlord in the Pittsburgh area and beyond.
Outside of work, Robert was passionate about many activities. He loved vacationing, boating, bike trips, and enjoyed the camaraderie of friends and family over good food and drinks. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan, always eager to cheer them on each season. He and Mariann loved living near the river in Verona in their later years. They were very involved with their community, venturing into the community council and forming the Verona Garden Club. In 2020 Bob moved to Ventura, CA near his daughter Jennifer, to take advantage of the mild climate.
Robert will be remembered for his zest for life, his unwavering dedication to his family, and his infectious spirit.
He is survived by his children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, and many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
