Lavey, Jeanne M. (Maginnis) of Braintree, MA (originally from South Boston) passed away peacefully at home on November 29, 2024. She lived a full life and was just shy of her 90th birthday. Jeanne was predeceased by her beloved husband John (Jake) Lavey.
She is survived by her children Jeanne Mogan (Edward), John T. Lavey (Doreen), Lisa McDonald (Steven), Susan LaPaglia (Angelo), Ellen Wright (John), Patrick Lavey (Susan), Dennis Lavey, Steven Lavey and the late John (Jackie) Lavey. Jeanne was the grandmother of 14: Michael Mogan, Patrick Mogan, Jay Lavey (Jennifer), Shawn Lavey, Justine Czolada (Sean), Alex McDonald (Shannon), Jake McDonald, Nicholas LaPaglia, Kurtis LaPaglia, Jay Wright, Taylor Lavey, Patrick Lavey, Ashley Lavey and the late Adam Lavey. She was also the great-grandmother of 7: Sarah Mogan, Jack Mogan, Ava Lavey, Quinn Czolada, Emily Czolada, Thomas Lavey, Nolan McDonald. She is also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews and held the cherished title of “Ma Lavey” to many who enjoyed her daily Facebook updates and Words with Friends.
Daughter of the late Roderick and Mary Maginnis. Dear sister of Mary (Macca) Cassino, and the late Helen Riley, Dennis Maginnis, Paul Maginnis, Charles Maginnis, Jack Maginnis, Rick Maginnis and her dear brother-in-law Al Cassino. She is also survived by her dear sisters-in-law Peg Crowe and Helen Hobin Maginnis.
Jeanne spent 80+ years living in South Boston and loved her home and neighbors on “F” Street. She certainly had her share of her children’s sports and was voted Little League Mother of the Year in 1979. She enjoyed her yearly weekend trips with her friends Clarkie and Junie. She was the number one fan of the Boston Bruins and Redsox and never missed a game on tv.
She was retired from the City of Boston Elderly Commission and worked as a home health aide and special needs bus monitor.
Visiting Hours in the Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street, South Boston, Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 4:00pm-7:00pm. A funeral mass at St. Augustine’s Chapel will be scheduled at a later date.
