Gail Elaine (Goulet) Edgecomb 03/14/55 – 11/29/24
Your Love Meant the World
Nobody else loved us so much
Or made us feel so right
No one's eyes shined so bright with love
And now she is high above.
WEST BALDWIN- Gail Elaine Edgecomb, 69, passed away peacefully from lung cancer on November 29, 2024, at Maine Medical Center surrounded by her sons Noel and Shawn and husband Neil.
Gail survived and beat two separate forms of cancer. And was fighting her third round of lung cancer.
She was born on March 14, 1955, in Biddeford, Maine. Gail graduated from Thornton Academy High School in 1973 and worked as a behavioral/mental health counselor for over 20 years.
Gail was the heart of our home and family. She raised two children, Noel (44), Shawn (43), in a happy and loving home. Gail was married for 40 years to her husband, Neil.
Gail supported her sons Noel and Shawn every step of the way. In life, sports, and there civilian/military careers.
A Memere to Logan (16) and Tyler (11), she was the "fun Memere," showering them with love and strength. Memere enjoyed watching their football, lacrosse and baseball games. And always cheered them on with positivity and encouragement.
Gail’s greatest joys came from spending time with her family and hosting holiday get-togethers. Her homemade banana breads, pumpkin muffins, and blueberry muffins were legendary. And bringing the family together during the holidays is what she enjoyed most.
She enjoyed cribbage and board games with her husband Neil. She enjoyed playing Trouble, Jinga and War with her grandson Tyler. And her long talks with Logan, who shared a special place in her heart.
She also enjoyed shopping trips to North Conway. And picking blueberries at her home with Neil and her grandchildren too.
But nothing made her happier than sleigh rides and spending Christmas with her family. She was a true Memere and always put her family first. She always had an open-door policy just like on Thornton Ave. Gail enjoyed the beauty and peacefulness of their home in West Baldwin.
Gail is survived by her brothers, Michael and John Goulet, her sisters Jennifer, and Liz. And her nieces, Michelle, Leah, Jessica, Christina, nephews, Robert, Andrew, Matthew, and Daniel, many cousins, and many loving family and friends who supported her along the way.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Roland, and Dickie, sisters Kim and Fran and both her parents Roland and Pauline (Dutremble) Goulet.
Our family is grateful for the Maine Medical Care Team. Gail had many Doctors, Nurses, Respiratory Therapist, and CNA’s during her stay. The Palliative Medicine Team and Oncology Team all made a difference in her life.
Thank you, Doctor Jessica Bian and Doctor Syed M. Quadri’s Team. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
A celebration of Gail’s life will be held on Saturday Dec 14 at Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple St., Cornish, from 1 to 4 p.m. Online condolence messages can be submitted at mainefuneral.com
