Martha Roe, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of God, entered into eternal rest on November 30th at the age of 74.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Greg Rowell officiating. The interment will follow in the Old Valley Grove Cemetery, in Irwin County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Ms. Roe was born July 26, 1950, in Ocilla, Georgia, to the late A.T. & Velma Maudine Whitley Rowell. Known lovingly as "Nana" and “BoBo” to her cherished family, Martha found her greatest joy in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her warm heart and unwavering love created a legacy of devotion and care that will be forever treasured. A woman of deep faith, Martha lived her life grounded in The Word, embodying kindness, compassion, and grace in all she did. Her example of godliness and love was a guiding light for those who knew her. Martha's family and friends will miss her laughter, wisdom, and steadfast presence, but they find comfort in knowing she is at peace in the arms of her Savior. Martha Roe's love and faith will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. Rest in peace, sweet Nana.
She is survived by a husband, Patrick Roe of Ocilla; two sons: Timothy Sumner and Tony Sumner & Lynn of Ocilla; four grandchildren: T. J. Sumner & Ashley, Robbie Paulk & Brandi, Amy Sanderson & Zackery, and Haley Newton & Justin; 10 great grandchildren; one brother, Tommy & Tammy Rowell of Fitzgerald and one sister: Frances & Richard Taylor of Rochelle. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Sue Jones and three brothers: Andrew William “Billy” Rowell, Jessie Rowell and Leroy Rowell.
