FITZWILLIAM, NH ---- Christine M. (Roach) Bornstein, 74, of South Pond Road, and a former Ashburnham, MA, resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, at Jaffrey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Belmont, MA; daughter of the late Keith and Marie (Donovan) Roach, she graduated from Belmont High School in 1968 and went on to attend Northeastern University, where she studied Psychology. She was a devoted wife, mother, “Mima”, sister, aunt and cousin to her large family and a loyal, lifelong friend to many people; always making everyone feel special and loved. Christine was the owner of Country Cross Stitch in Ashburnham and Fitchburg, MA for many years.

She was an enthusiast of cross-stitch, quilting, framing and a talented seamstress who loved to share her beautiful creations with her children, family and friends. Christine loved her books, jigsaw puzzles, playing solitaire, Trader Joe’s shopping trips with her best friend Melanie MacDonald, making tuna melts and baking LOTS of fresh loaves of bread. The White Mountains will always be a special place to her, spending many years vacationing with her family and looking at the mountains. Her cabin in the woods was magical and she enjoyed many days just sitting on the deck looking up at the trees with her husband, Howard.

Christine is survived by her husband of 54 years, Howard Bornstein; son Geoffrey Bornstein, of Contoocook, NH; daughters Jennifer De Maio and her husband Francesco, of Clinton, MA, Sara Bornstein, of Gardner, MA, Elizabeth LeBlanc and her husband Glenn, of Gardner, MA and Leah Scott and her husband Greg, of Cumberland, RI; brother Jack Roach, of Hampton, NH; sister Mary Anne Garbati and her husband Peter, of Plaistow, NH; fourteen grandchildren, Raegan Scott, Brynn Scott, Grace LeBlanc, Gavin LeBlanc, Austin Bornstein, Christine Coleman, Ryan Bornstein, Sadie Bornstein-Theroux, Dillon Proctor, Joanie Proctor, Brendan Proctor, Brianna Desautels, Cheyanne Mooney, Daulton Bornstein; six great-grandchildren; Adalyn Proctor, Jaylin Proctor, Zoey Proctor, Cooper Proctor, Lucy Bornstein and Stevie Bornstein; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of a funeral and calling hours, a Celebration of Life will be held on her birthday, May 8, 2025; additional details to follow.
