Obituary

Normand Blanchette, 85 of Westport passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on November 28, 2024.

Born on September 6,1939 in Westport, MA he proudly served in the United States Coast Guard from 1959 to 1961, where he was stationed at Group Cape Cod, Cape Cod Canal. He always had a tremendous work ethic and always needed to keep busy. He worked as a member of the Local 51 Plumbers Union for 42 years and owned his own business prior to joining the union. He was an avid bowler and served as Treasurer for the American Men’s Bowling League in Westport for many years. He was a faithful New England sports fan.

Normand was the patriarch of his loving family, preceded in death by his parents Jean and Rose Anna Blanchette and two sisters, Jeannette LaFlamme and Juliette LePage and his twin brother, Armand Blanchette.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Frieda (Gerrald) Blanchette; his sister Bernadette Edmond; his three children, Brian Blanchette (Darlene), Lonnie Blanchette (Rosemary) and Michelle Ferreira (Brian). He was a loving grandfather of six, Rachel Blanchette, Nicole Camara (Kyle), Lonnie Blanchette (Stephanie), Jenna Ferreira, Benjamin Blanchette and Samuel Blanchette. He was also a loving great grandfather of five, Addison Amaral, Sofia Camara, Jayden Camara, Everly Camara and Levi Camara.

He will be greatly missed and forever cherished by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
