EAST DOUGLAS___Eileen A. (Carlson) Linga, 77, of East Douglas, died Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Saint Vincent Hospital, 123 Summer Street, Worcester. She was surrounded by her family. The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude for the kind and loving care she received by the staff at the Saint Vincent and UMass Hospitals as well as at the Jewish Healthcare Center. She is survived by her daughter, Rebekah Linga of Worcester; a brother, Michael Carlson of Webster; and a sister, Christine Clifford and her husband Kevin of Westerly, RI. She is predeceased by the love of her life and husband of forty-two years, Boleslaw “Bill” L. Linga Jr., who passed in 2013.
Eileen was born in Worcester, the daughter of Frederick W. Carlson, Jr. and Mary A. (D’Emilio) Carlson. She graduated from South High School in Worcester, class of 1965. She then attended Worcester State College (University), where she earned her bachelor’s degree as well as her Master's in Education. Mrs. Linga taught third and fourth grade classes at Balmer Elementary School in Whitinsville for forty years, retiring in 2010. She treasured her students, never forgetting a name or a face. She was a member of St. Denis Church in Douglas.
Eileen enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, watching Red Sox games, and attending concerts with her daughter. She loved spending time with her family and friends. After retirement, she kept in touch with her former colleagues and looked forward to weekly get-togethers with them at the Northbridge Senior Center. Eileen was a compassionate, soft-spoken, and kind woman, with a curious mind and an ever-open heart. She will be remembered fondly by those who knew and loved her.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster St. Calling hours in the funeral home will be on Monday, December 2, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
