Mary Claire Lane, 89

Dateline: Attleboro, MA

Mary Claire (Cote) Lane, age 89, of Attleboro, formerly of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, in the presence of her loving family on Monday, November 25, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.

Born in Lawrence, MA on May 3, 1935, she was a loving daughter of the late Wilfred and Leonida (Dubois) Cote.

Claire grew up in Lawrence and was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Lawrence. She continued her studies, graduating with an associate’s degree from MassBay Community College in Wellesley Hills.

A resident of Attleboro for twenty-five years, Claire had formerly resided in Mansfield. She had previously been employed as a bookkeeper for S.M. Lorusso & Sons, co-host of Curtain call, a local Attleboro cable TV show and when younger, she as a clerk in the assessor’s office at the Dedham Town Hall.

Claire's family was truly the focal point of her life. She was the greatest mother in the world, was always in attendance at her children’s and grandchildren’s events and was lovingly known by all as "Mimi". She was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield and had a special love for ballroom dancing.

She is survived by her devoted children, Mary Lou Nota and her husband Richard of Little River, South Carolina, James R. Lane and his wife Tina of Taunton and Anne Marie Darling of Attleboro. She was the cherished grandmother of Christopher Brown, Katelyn Darling, Erin Marie Darling and the great grandmother of Shawn Darling, Mason Armstrong, Tyler Darling, Margaret Maya Brown and Nesrine Sinno. She was the dear sister of Yvette Doiron (Dan) of California and the late Lucien (Jack) Cote, Armand (Joe) Cote, Raymond P. Cote, Gertrude A. O'Connor (John), Theresa Adams (Clyde), Wilfred (Bill) Cote, Roger Cote (Karen).

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, December 6th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 7th at 11:30 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the Hellenic Nursing Home, 601 Sherman Street, Canton, MA 02021
