Obituary

Jesse James Denson, 69

Dateline: Norton, MA

There are no words that would possibly express the pain and loss that we feel today as we announce the sudden death on Saturday, November 23, 2024 of our beloved husband and dad, Jesse James Denson. He was born in Key West, Florida in 1955 to Jesse Lee Denson and Eva Marie Denson (Lang). He spent much of his youth in San Diego, CA and Memphis, TN.

Jesse met the love of his life, Theresa “Terry” Gillen when they were just teenagers while on a visit to New England. They were married soon after, and went on to have six wonderful children, settling in Norton, Massachusetts where they raised their young family and lived happily to this day. Terry meant the world to Jesse, and the two of them spent the entirety of their marriage in love and dedication to their family.

Jesse and Terry spent many happy days walking the beaches in their favorite getaway, Wells, Maine, and enjoyed countless cups of evening tea together. We are left with so many joyful memories of camping trips, family gatherings, visits to Wells, and his amazing musical talent both singing and playing guitar.

He had a way of making everyone he met feel loved, accepted, wanted, and seen. His kindness and generosity were far reaching, resulting in many treasured friendships. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, and loved assisting others.

He was an active member of Saint Mary’s parish in Mansfield, MA, a devoted Christian, who loved attending mass, reading his bible, and discussing the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. He hosted a bible study every week with his children and loved Jesus and his family above all else.

Jesse was an avid engineer, talented in electrical circuit design, and had a very strong work ethic. He especially loved his time at Motorola, where he developed life-long friendships and contributed to multiple patents for his work with digital signal processing.

Jesse is survived by his wife Terry of 46 years; his children, Jesse and wife Kellie (Brides), Jennifer and husband Ryan Dewey, Katie and husband Stephen Tierney, Theresa and husband William Bowley, Kenneth “Kenny” and wife Alexandra (Watson), and his son Colin; his brother James Denson and sister Maryanne Gabriele. Jesse treasured his ten grandchildren, Alexander “Alex”, Joshua, Connor, Donovan “Donny”, Brenden, Zachary “Zachy”, Nathan, Aden, Thomas “Tommy”, and Annalee. He is additionally survived by his cherished extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins whom he loved dearly from California and Tennessee. Throughout his life, he had many pets and loved all animals; he will be greatly missed by his current dog Augie and cats Caspian and Skyler.

He was preceded in death by his father Jesse “Lee”, mother Eva, and brother Paul Edward “Eddy” Denson.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, December 2nd from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street in Mansfield.
