Lori Pedersen, 56, of Waltham, Massachusetts passed away from complications due to
ovarian cancer after a five year battle on October 30, 2024.
Lori was born January 26, 1968 and grew up in Atlantic, Iowa. She graduated from high school in 1986, and moved to the Boston area shortly thereafter. She studied graphic arts at Northeastern University and later became a web designer, growing and evolving with digital media while working in biotechnology.
A life long artist, she drew constantly, painted, enjoyed photography, but her greatest love was colored pencil drawing. She was a nanny while in college, and later became an aftercare teacher working with elementary school students; especially enjoying helping them explore the arts. She was active in animal rescue, and helped foster dogs while adopting two dogs and three cats of her own. Prior to her illness she had her own dog walking and pet sitting business which she loved.
She was preceded in death by her brother Steven Pedersen, parents Wayne and Betty (Michealsen) Pedersen, and step sister Vicki Jo Parker.
She is survived by her “niece” Chloe Belleau, and close friend Christy Belleau; with whom she lived, and several good friends. She also leaves behind several cousins; Terri Lannon, Tammie Nelson, Lila Bitner, Llesa Stierle, Llala Klein, Keith Nelson, Alan Pedersen, Kert Pedersen, Jim Frisbie and an aunt M.Pedersen. A burial will be held at the Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic, Iowa at a later date.
