Lev G. Simkhovich, 65, of Worcester, died Saturday November 23rd in UMass Hospital University Campus. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Irina C. (Shusharina) Simkhovich; his three sons, Dennis L. Simkhovich and his wife, Alisha, Ilya L. Simkhovich and Maximilian C. Simkhovich; his mother, Gilda (Getman) Simkhovich; his brother, Eugene Simkhovich and his wife, Sunitha Narayanan, his three granddaughters, Sasha, Lina, and Ilyana Simkhovich and his niece Katya Simkhovich. He was predeceased by his first wife, Tatyana (Aksenova) Simkhovich in 1999.
Lev was born in Krasnoturyinsk, Russia to Gilda Simkhovich and the late Gennadiy L. Simkhovich. Lev came to Worcester with his family in 1994. Prior to his new life in the United States, Lev had a successful civil engineering career in Russia. Lev worked for a large, specialized construction company where he started as an engineering aid and reached the title of chief engineer, overseeing large utilities and paving projects toward the end of his career. His dream was always to have and run his own construction company, which came true when he immigrated to the United States. Lev first worked at ALF Floors in Worcester and in 1997 he started his general contracting business, Lev Simkhovich & Sons, retiring in 2021. His work included projects in the Worcester and Boston areas, and sometimes went as far as Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard. Lev was an avid audiophile and enjoyed listening to his vast collection of classic rock albums on his state-of-the-art sound system. He was known for his strong work ethic, professional knowledge, and dedication to overcoming any challenge. In his time off he enjoyed taking vacation trips with his family. But his greatest joy was time spent with his relatives, especially his granddaughters. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
His funeral will be held, Saturday, November 30th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue departing the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. to Hope Cemetery for his burial. Friends and family are invited to visit with the family from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m. the morning of the funeral in the funeral home.
