Walter C. Zepkoski, 90 of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Lowell General Hospital.
He was born in Lowell on September 17, 1934 and was a son of the late Joseph and Caroline (Czaikiute) Zupkoski. He was raised in Lowell where he attended the area schools.
In 1967, Walter proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, dedicating his career to serving his country and earning the esteemed rank of Gunnery Sergeant. After 20 years of service, he retired as a career veteran, honorably discharged.
Walter was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He was a Past President and Officer of the DLKV Lithuanian Club in Lowell, where he was a lifelong member. He was also a member of the Pulaski Club in Lowell. He loved watching movies and listening to music.
Surviving him are his longtime companion, Maria Maille of Lowell; Maria’s daughter, Christine Maillie of Lowell; his sister in law, Helen Zupkosky; many nieces and nephews including John Zupkosky of Milford, NH, Donna Hamilton of Lowell, Michael Zepkoski Jr. of Lowell; and many great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, the late Walter Skip Zepkoski; and his siblings, the late Joseph Zepkoski, Josephine Gioia, John Zupkosky, Alphonse Zupkosky and his wife, Therese, Walter Zepkoski, Michael P. Zepkoski, Stanley Zepkoski, Mary Zepkoski.
His private burial took place at St. Patrick Cemetery in Lowell.
