LACONIA ---- Dean P. Tappan, 73, died Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Concord Hospital in Concord.
Dean was born May 10, 1951, in Worcester, MA, one of six children of John and Mary (Sczepaniak) Tappan.
Dean was a proud Vietnam Veteran, serving in the US Army as an Airborne Pathfinder stationed at Stacked Deck. He still kept in touch with some of those whom he had served with. He will be remembered for his kind heart, silly grin and funny sense of humor, often deliberately mismatching his clothing just to get a laugh from others. He spent many years as a carpenter. With a gift of building crazy things, Dean would put together a motorcycle from a snowblower and a lawn mower and make it work. Not only did he build motorcycles, he owned many types over the years and he rode them as often as he could. His favorite part of summer was Laconia Bike Week. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and especially fishing.
He is survived by his brothers, David, Douglas and Dan Tappan and sisters Dawne Leonard and Deborah Brennan and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dean is predeceased by his son Abram Tappan.
Burial with Military Honors will take place at a later date, at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, in Boscawen, NH.
