Albion G. Davis III, 70, of South Dartmouth, MA passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the husband of Brenda L. (Cunha) Davis, they shared 18 years together.
Al was the son of the late Albion Gibbs Davis Jr. and the late Suzanne (Snow) Davis. He was born and raised in his hometown of Little Compton, RI where he spent the first half of his life. He then lived in North Danville VT, Swan's Island ME and Puerto Rico before making his home with his wife, Brenda, in South Dartmouth, MA.
Al was an avid hunter and recreational fishing enthusiast. He enjoyed sharing these adventures with his family and close friends. He also enjoyed working with his hands on projects big and small. Whether constructing a model airplane, building a house or completely overhauling an engine there seemingly wasn’t anything he couldn’t accomplish. He was always happy to share his knowledge with those that worked alongside him.
He made his livelihood in the commercial fishing industry for over three decades as an Owner and Operator who successfully adapted to the ever changing fishing industry in search of his next big catch. Eventually he navigated his way into the passenger vessel industry where he ran ferries from ports as far north as Maine to as far south as Tortola, BVI. During this time he filled many roles and never stopped teaching people along the way.
After retirement, he enjoyed spending leisure time with his wife and his grandchildren. Al touched many lives over the years and provided guidance to friends, family and coworkers alike. To know him was to see past the tough exterior and appreciate the intelligent, kind and caring person that he truly was.
Along with his wife, he leaves behind his son, Gibbs Davis Lambert of Little Compton, his sister Deborah Gedney and her husband James of Middletown, his sister Dorothy Moore and her husband James of NH, his grandson Brodie Gibbs Lambert, his former daughter in law Melissa Lambert, he was like a grandfather to; Rowynn, Kennedy, Jagger, London, Rhett and Easton, and also many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday, December 12, 2024 at The Cove Restaurant and Marina, 392 Davol St., Fall River, MA 02720 from 6-9 P.M. .
