Katherine “Katie” Royal Arrington, 74, of Tifton, Georgia, died Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 12:30 PM, Monday, November 25, 2024, at Whitley Cemetery in Irwin County, Georgia, with Elder Chad O’Quinn and the Rev. John Hughes officiating.
Mrs. Arrington was born June 17, 1950, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late James & Josephine Harden Royal. She graduated from Irwin County High School and earned a Bachelors degree from Berry College. She taught school in Griffin and supervised the residential program at Sunny Dale Training Center for many years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed books, especially the Bible. She fellowshipped with the Bible study group at First Baptist as well as the 55 Club for lunch at the Methodist Church. She was a member of Tifton Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by a sister, Betty Laura Walker of Tifton; sisters-in-law, Patricia Royal, Mokana Royal Clements, and Teresa Royal, who was a loving caregiver to Katie the past few years; a brother-in-law, Ronny Cantrell; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Arrington, Sr. and siblings: Seaborn Royal, Whitley Royal, Dorothy Grimsley, Mary Frances Cantrell, Charlotte Herrington, Billy Royal, and Joe Royal.
