Gordon P. Reed, age 91, of Bridgewater, formerly of Brockton, passed away on November 21, 2024 at Life Care Center of West Bridgewater after a period of failing health. He was the loving husband of the late Muriel (Morrison) Reed. Born January 5, 1933 in Boston, he was the son of the late Edward W. and Elizabeth (Calnan) Reed.
Gordon was raised and educated in Brockton and was a 1950 graduate of Brockton High School. He joined the Air Force, aspiring to be an Air Traffic Controller.
Gordon worked for First National Stores as a store manager for 25 years before assuming the same position at Roche Bros. for another 17 years.
After retiring, he enjoyed sailing and swimming at his summer home in Plymouth as well as travelling with his wife. Most of all, he loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his granddaughter Shana.
Gordon is survived by his son Paul and his wife Anne of West Wareham, a granddaughter Shana Miller and her husband Jeremy of Dighton and three great granddaughters Hailey, Olivia and Evelyn also of Dighton. He leaves three sisters in law, Maddie Reed of Plympton, Fran Reed of Bowie, MD and Jean Morrison of Taunton, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers Whitney and Wayne and his his sister Sylvia Mooney Reed, in addition to three brothers in law Gerald, Richard and Harold Morrison and two sisters in law Diane (Lavigne) Morrison and Jeanne (Cormier) Morrison.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton, on Tuesday, November 26 from 4-7pm. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30am followed by his burial in Melrose Cemetery.
