Richard Bruce Thompson, Sr., 87, of Londonderry, NH passed away at his home on Monday November 21, 2024, surrounded by his family after a period of declining health. He was born November 15, 1937, in Winchester, MA and was a son of the late Albert and Christina (Grandy) Thompson. He was raised and educated in Winchester, MA and received an associate’s degree in accounting and finance from Bentley College and had been a resident of Londonderry for the past 51years.
Mr. Thompson served his country as a member of the US Army from 1956 to 1959, as a member of the Army Security Agency. He returned to private life and began a career in business with United Brands in Central America as an auditor, Charles A. Rittenhouse & Co. and several other companies, before serving as a Vice President with HTI Telecom. He then founded Sage Communications, a communications products company.
Dick was a member of the Winchester, MA Lodge of Elks and past exalted ruler, a member of the William Parkman Masonic Lodge of Winchester, MA. He was also a past President of the Londonderry Rotary Club and recipient of the Paul Harris Award.
Members of the family include his wife of 51 years, Marlene (Moher) Thompson of Londonderry, a son and his wife, Richard B. Jr. and Nicole Thompson of Concord, NC, three granddaughters, Hanna, Alyssa and Natiley Thompson, a nephew, Matthew Thompson of Spencer, MA, two nieces, Cheryl Thomspon of Mont Vernon, NH and Lyn Thompson of Plum Island, MA and several grand nephews and nieces He was predeceased by a brother, Robert G. Thompson, a sister, Lois Souza and a nephew, Roy Kurra.
After cremation, an hour of visitation will be held Tuesday December 3, 2024, from 10 to 11 am at St. Peters Episcopal Church, 3 Peabody Row, Londonderry. A Celebration of his life will begin at 11 am and will be followed by Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to St. Peters Episcopal Church, 3 Peabody Row, Londonderry, NH 03053.
