Eleanora (Torrisi) Tammaro, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024. She was 90 years old.
Eleanora worked for New England Baptist Hospital for 39 years as head of Hematology, she also taught students in the Medical Technology field at Northeastern University. Apart from those she cared for at the Hospital, she cared deeply for her family and friends and especially loved to cook and bake for them. She was a worldly woman who loved to travel with her late husband and family.
In later years she looked forward to her annual trips to Florida with her sister Nancy. One of her greatest enjoyments was the beach or a great game of dominos, and she loved to laugh and make others laugh. She had the exceptional quality of always seeing the best in others and was a beautiful soul who touched all her were fortunate enough to know her.
Eleanora was the wife of the late Vincenzo Tammaro. She was the loving mother of Prisco Tammaro of Malden, Angela Smith and her husband Richard of Malden, and Antonette L. Onorato and her husband Salvatore of Wilmington. Eleanora was the dear sister of Nancy Paladino and her late husband Stephen, Mary Fagone and her late husband Sebastian, Domenica Finke and her late husband Alexander, and Joseph Torrisi and his wife Pamela. She was the cherished grandmother of Bryan V. Smith, Christian Tammaro, William Smith, and Morgan Tammaro. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Tuesday November 26th at 9:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Eleanora’s life in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday November 25th from 4:00pm-8:00pm.
Interment will be in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
