Obituary

Elizabeth Jean Louis, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, Godmother (Mariene, manman) passed away peacefully in the early hours of Monday, November 18, 2024, at the remarkable age of 94. Born on March 10, 1930, in Les Anglais, Haiti, she was the youngest of her parents’ children.

Elizabeth’s life was a testament to love, strength, faith, and selflessness. A devoted Catholic Christian, her unwavering faith in God guided her every step. She was a woman of deep prayer, often seeking solace and strength in her relationship with God. Her faith was the foundation of her generosity and compassion, inspiring her to live a life of service to others.

As the beloved mother to her two daughters, Marie Claudette Jean Louis, Marie Victoria Gabriel, Loving grandmother of Claudy, Betty, Maurice, Marie France, Franceska, Tyrone, William, Jean, Ediona, Katiana, Dorsainvil, Mackendy, Jhonny, Vikenson, and Marvins. Great-grandmother of Patrice, Tcharldi, Claudemia, Phayarlie, Cyana, Mariana, Nathaniel, Eva, James, Feanza, Zachary, Tamaelle, Garvins, Ritchnardo, Shammah, Kal-el, Sephora-Elizabeth, and Athena. Also survived by her In law: Oxene Gabriel, Tcharloune, Mariot M, Tamara and Niece and nephews: Marie Carmelle and children’s, Edner, Jean Marcky, Junette, and cousin: Flubert Douyon. Godsons: Robert Ismeal. Elizabeth’s love and guidance were a source of strength for her family. She will forever remain the brightest light in their lives, living on in their hearts as a beacon of inspiration and love.

Elizabeth was known for her incredible kindness and an extraordinary ability to care for others. She had an open heart and an open home, welcoming anyone in need as her own. Whether it was a relative, a neighbor, or a friend, she ensured no one went without a meal, a kind word, or a place to rest. Her selflessness was unmatched always putting the needs of others before her own, often at great personal sacrifice.

She worked tirelessly throughout her life, embodying resilience and grace. Whether it was providing for her family or offering support to her community, Elizabeth’s dedication was unshakable. Her love for God and her community made her an anchor for so many, as her faith inspired her to bring light to everyone she met.

Elizabeth’s legacy of love extends to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless others who were touched by her warmth and compassion. She was a guiding force, a nurturer, and a shining example of what it means to live a life of purpose, faith, and love. Elizabeth Jean Louis was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her spirit and unwavering faith live on in the countless lives she changed for the better.

Visiting hours will be held at the P.E. Murray - F.J. Higgins, George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 2000 Centre Street, West Roxbury on Friday, Nov. 29th from 4-8pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Saturday, Nov. 30th at 9am, followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Roslindale at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
