Meribah (Meri) F. Thomas (Lewis)

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Meribah F. Thomas, lovingly known as "Meri" to family and friends. Born in South Boston on April 11, 1942, she was a cherished daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. Meri passed away on November 17, 2024 in her own home surrounded by her daughter, Dana, and son, Terry.
Meri was raised in South Boston, growing up with her parents, Philip and Frances Lewis, and her two beloved sisters, Margaret and Lorraine. She attended Cardinal Cushing High School. After her marriage, she moved to Canton where she raised her two children with boundless love and dedication. Meri’s daughter, Dana Trenovich, moved to Florida with her husband, Matt, to raise their daughter, Madeline. Meri’s son, Terry Thomas, resides in Canton with his wife, Laura, and their two sons, John and Michael. Meri also had a niece, Denise, and two nephews, Steven and Scott whom she loved dearly. Meri’s children, grandchildren, and her entire family were her pride and joy, and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to their happiness.
Meri was blessed with many friends throughout her life. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed participating in multiple bowling leagues alongside her close friends. She also loved to travel, with her favorite destination being Bermuda. There were quite a few memorable gambling trips that provided lots of great times with her sister and friends. Giving back to the community was always a core part of Meri’s life. She had a special passion for Toys for Tots, where she met her dear friend, Jim. Their friendship enriched her life, and she cherished spending time with him and his family.
Meri's tenacity, bold spirit, and fierce independence touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A funeral service will be held at St Brigid’s in South Boston on December 14, 2024 at 11:30 am, with a Celebration of Life to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Meri’s name to Toys for Tots, a cause that meant so much to her.
