With profound sadness we announce the passing of Raymond N. Aube, loving and devoted father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother and friend, on November 18, 2024, at the age of ninety-one. He left us while resting peacefully at the Bedford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford, NH. Ray was born and raised in Berlin, NH before enlisting in the Air Force at the age of seventeen. He was a proud twenty-seven-year veteran, retiring from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant having served in Vietnam as well as being stationed overseas in Africa, Belgium and Spain.
Ray was a rare combination of character, principles, pride and determination who had a work ethic like no other. He prided himself on being a self-made man who was not afraid to take chances. The military offered opportunity and adventure, and Ray traveled the world, living life fully everywhere he landed. He used to say, ‘take the job and figure it out later’ which summarizes his approach to life. Take the challenge, close your gaps and excel. He bet on himself and won, time and time again. A master negotiator, his career was spent in supply chain and purchasing. He was a charming, charismatic, smooth talker who loved to finagle a great deal.
He was a rock who was fiercely and unapologetically loyal to his family. His infectious personality would often light up a room with his smile, a story or a joke, but if you needed him, you better believe he’d be there. His hard exterior covered up a warm heart, and a witty, dry sense of humor which showed itself recently when one of his grandchildren called him and said, “I miss you Papa”, he famously replied, “Well you have a car don’t you?”. His way of saying I miss you too.
Throughout his life, Ray remained devoted to his family. He leaves his son Del and partner Suzan from Manchester, NH, son Steven and wife Denise from Bedford, NH, son Ted and his wife Jennifer from Manchester, NH, six grandchildren (Nicholas, Stephanie, Eric, Ethan, Austin, Sydney) and five great grandchildren whom he adored.
A special thanks to the wonderful nurses and doctors at the BNRC in Bedford, NH. We’re not sure he could’ve married all the nurses, but we’re sure he asked! The care our father received was exceptional and we thank you all for the impact you had. It was felt and mattered.
Calling hours will be held at J.N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home on Friday, 11/22 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Bedford, NH on Saturday, 11/23 at 11:00 am.
