James L. “Jimmy” Roberts of West Roxbury, passed away on November 17, 2024. Beloved father of Shawn M. Roberts (BPD) and his wife Sarah of Roslindale, and Kelly Roberts of West Roxbury. Loving grandfather of Connor and Leah Hamrick.
Jimmy was able to enjoy several years of retirement after working for the City of Boston Community Centers. He was a longtime member of the VFW Post 2902 and Boston Elks Lodge 10.
Jimmy loved his children, his grandchildren, his country and his community. He was a proud Veteran of the Vietnam War and honored to represent his VFW post at various events throughout the city. Jimmy’s dedication to the Parkway area was evident through his efforts to get the Roche Community Center opened. He loved coaching for many years in Parkway Little League and led efforts to start the WRCC girls basketball league where he also coached. Jimmy was also one of the founding organizers of the Corrib Road Race and continued to volunteer his time annually.
He will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.
Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St., WEST ROXBURY, on Monday, November 25th at 9:00am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Theresa of Avila Church at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. Visiting Hours Sunday, November 24th from 3pm to 7pm in the Funeral Home.
