Obituary

GILFORD ---- It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Deborah L O’Brien Jason at the young age of 66, after a long courageous battle with cancer. She fought like a true warrior until the very end. She was surrounded by those she loved most at the time of passing.

She was born in Weymouth, MA, August 20, 1958, to the late John and Catherine (Wigmore) O’Brien. She left this world on Thursday, November 14, 2024. Debbie grew up in Hingham, and later started her family in Quincy. In 1991 she moved her family to Laconia, NH so her children would grow up surrounded by beautiful lakes and mountains. She later moved to Gilford, where she spent the last 10 years.

She recently retired from LRCSC, where she spent 25 years as a caregiver. Her life's work was taking care of those that couldn't take care of themselves. Most importantly two very special women who she held very close to her heart and became family, Loraine and Patty, that she cared for until their time came.

Debbie's greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. Her life revolved around them. She never missed a game, for any kid, or any sport, always cheering the loudest, from the front row. Softball, baseball, football, basketball, band, chorus, cheer, soccer, dance- snow, rain or shine, state to state, she was there. She loved every minute of crazy schedules and always being on the go. She was so very proud of her grandchildren. Any downtime she could be found at Gilford Beach with her youngest grandchild and great friends she's made along the years. She loved baking with the kids, having big cookouts, family holidays, camping, family trips, school field trips and events, board games and sleepovers. She loved anything that involved family and friends. She lived her life to the fullest. A true example of "live like you are dying". She was always traveling, vacationing, going on cruises, concerts, shows, exploring new places, and taking trips to visit family.

Debbie is predeceased by her parents, John and Catherine O’Brien, brother William O’Brien, and sister Louise O’Brien. She leaves behind a daughter Jessica Jason and partner Jimmy Flanders, sons Joseph Jason and partner Sarah Alley, and Jacob Jason, all of Laconia, her pride and joys - her grandchildren - Andre McNeil and partner Karissa Bony, Kayden Roberts and partner Jewel Simmons, Ayla Jason, Levi Jason, and her baby Guliahna Weeks. She leaves her sisters Marie O’Brien, Carol (O’Brien) Merritt and husband Jeff, Catherine O’Brien, Nancy O’Brien and brother John O’Brien and partner Linda. She also leaves her beloved pup, Shyne, several nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends and family across the states. Debbie was very fortunate to create such great friendships with so many people. Beach friends, traveling friends, neighbor friends, work friends, and lifetime friends; friends through thick and thin - that were there until the very end. Everyone that knew her, loved her. She was the glue that bonded everyone else together. She was a loyal friend, doting mom, and the very best Grammy in the world. She is already deeply missed, will always be remembered, and forever loved by all.

There are no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 22, 2024 at 3pm at the First Congregational Church, 4 Highland St., Meredith NH. A reception will follow at the church hall. All are welcome to come celebrate the amazing life Debbie lived.
