Joseph S. Warchal, age 82, a lifelong resident of Norton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Jeanne (Vacher) Warchal, to whom he was wed for sixty-two years.
Born in Attleboro, MA on October 22, 1942, he was a loving son of the late Stephen and Muriel (Hunt) Warchal.
Joe grew up and was educated in Norton. His working career was spent as a diamond setter at the former L.G. Balfour Co. in Attleboro, where he was productively employed for forty-one years before retiring.
Joe’s family was the focal point of his life and they always came first. He served in the United States Army Reserve and his hobbies included fishing, boating, a passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and a sweet tooth for tic tacs. An accomplished woodworker when younger, he enjoyed building furniture for others and along with his father’s help, proudly built the home he raised his family in Norton in.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted daughters, Doreen Y. Chaisson and her husband Cary of Raymond, New Hampshire and Debbie L. Yelle and her husband Donald, Jr. of Mansfield. He was the cherished grandfather of Sarah Yelle of Anchorage, Alaska, Tyler Chaisson of Dover, New Hampshire and Sophie Chaisson of Avon, Colorado. He was the brother of the late Charlotte O’Clair.
Services, along with burial at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton will be private and visiting hours are omitted.
