Sharon J. Petrone, 72, of Brook Road, Harrisville, Rhode Island passed away peacefully Friday, November 15th at Rhode Island Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of David M. Petrone for 53 years.
Born in Pawtucket, RI she was the daughter of the late George T. and Mary C. (Giordano) Clark. She had lived in North Providence for 32 years before moving to Harrisville in 1984. She graduated from North Providence High School in 1969. She had been employed by the State of Rhode Island as a cook’s helper with the Burrillville School Department and then Zambrano Hospital before retiring.
Sharon was a devoted Catholic. She began singing and playing the piano at a very young age. She went on to study voice and piano in her adolescent years. She entered many talent shows and sang at many events. Sharon once won an award at the Loew’s State Theatre (PPAC) for her rendition of The Sound of Music . Sharon’s talents also extended to crafting, crocheting and cooking and was famous for her eggplant parmesan. She loved watching football, and amazed many people with her knowledge of the game. She was a devoted fan of the New England Patriots and rarely missed watching a game. She loved animals, especially her dog Brody who was always by her side. Sharon loved trips by the ocean to Jamestown and also loved her trips to Maine, New Hampshire and Mystic, CT. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Besides her husband, she leaves her children, Dawn M. Petrone of Harrisville, David M. Petrone, Jr. of Chepachet, Tanya Petrone-Aldrich and her husband Jack of North Providence. She was the grandmother of John Murphy and Ashley Murphy of Harrisville. She was the sister of Sandra J.Clark of North Providence. She was the sister in law of Betty Carbary and her husband George of Attleboro, MA, and Donna Phillips and her husband Bob of Ballouville, CT. She also leaves her Aunt Hilda Giordano of North Providence along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Rhode Island Hospital, Miriam Hospital and Hospice RI for their care and compassion as well as the Harrisville Fire Department.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, November 22nd at 9:30am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am in the Church of the Presentation, 1081 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland, RI . Visitation will be held Thursday, November 21st, from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the RI Blood Center, 405 Promenade Street, Providence, RI 02908. www.ribc.org
