Christine “Chris” McNamara, 66, of Rochdale died Saturday, November 16th at home surrounded by her family. She leaves her husband of 23 years, John Buell; three children, Jonathan McNamara and his wife Alexandria of Hope, RI, Jennifer Miller and her husband, Connor of Worcester, and Nathan McNamara and his wife, Lindsay of Dudley; a brother, Mark Moriarty and his wife Amanda of South Carolina; five grandchildren, Gunnar, Jaiden, Elijah, Brayden, and Sophia; and nephews Ryan and Kaden Moriarty.
Chris was born in Worcester, the daughter of Hugh and Barbara (Goulet) Moriarty and graduated from Doherty High School. She worked tirelessly as a manager in several area fast-food restaurants before retiring in 2018. Even in retirement, Chris continued to share her talents, managing the café at Becker College for several years.
She was affectionately known as ‘Mimi’ by her beloved grandchildren, who were her light and joy. Her grandchildren meant everything to her, and she seized every opportunity to create memories with them. She loved her two fur children, Jasper and Wiffles whom she spoiled endlessly with treats and frequent trips to the ‘spa’. Chris had a passion for fashion which was illustrated elegantly between her bright and vibrant outfits, purses, and wearing the highest sets of heels that would even make Gene Simmons jealous. Chris’s life was filled with love, creativity, and dedication to her family and passions. She had a remarkable talent for decorating, transforming her home for every holiday into displays that could have graced the pages of a magazine, especially Christmas. Her legacy of love, creativity, and dedication will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her, especially her cherished children and ‘Mimi’s sweet doll children’.
Her funeral is Friday, November 22nd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester. Calling hours are Thursday, November 21st from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
