Martha McNeilly Foutch, 80, of Hopkins Avenue, Johnston, passed away on Friday November 15, 2024, in Kent Hospital, Warwick. She was the wife of Wesley E. Foutch.
Martha was born July 4, 1944, in Providence, RI to Christiane Filteau McNeilly and Warren McNeilly. She grew up in Greenville, RI, graduated from Classical High School in 1962, then from Rhode Island College in 1966.
In 1967 she met her future husband, Wesley Foutch, who was serving in the US Navy in RI as a helicopter pilot. They were married in 1968, the start of a wonderful 56 years together.
She continued her schooling, graduating from Nursing school in 1980. She was an ER nurse at Memorial Hospital when she retired after 20 years.
Martha and Wes enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed their time in England, having completed 15 trips to England, never visiting the same place twice.
Martha loved all creatures, furry or not. After retirement she could be found volunteering at the Wildlife Clinic of RI. Her perfect day would be spent bottle feeding orphaned babies of any kind. She identified with Dr Albert Schweitzer and would not kill even a fly.
Martha is survived by her husband, Wesley, her daughter Jennifer True and her husband Bill, of South Berwick, ME and daughter, Annie Koivisto and her husband, Mikael, of Woodstock, CT, and grandchildren Sarah, Will and Megan. She is survived by seven siblings and their spouses, plus numerous nieces, and nephews.
