Emmanuel Yves Vatel, known to many as Yvon, was born on July 31st, 1939 to his parents Philippe Vatel and Amelie-Victoire Salvador. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and much more during his incredible 85 years of life. He passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on Wednesday November 13th, 2024.
Yvon will be remembered for his vibrant personality, being the life of the party, and the love that he had for life.
He was born and grew up in Port au Prince, Haiti with his three siblings Ginette, Serge, and Emmanuel Jacques. There he met his wife Marie where they got married and started a life of their own. Together they eventually moved to the United States and ended up residing in Boston, Massachusetts as of 1987. He spent more than 15 years dedicating his services to the same employer before entering into his much deserved retirement.
He loved to spend his free time with family and friends listening and dancing to music or playing cards and dominoes. He loved to watch sports, but especially baseball. And he loved a great party where he could indulge in great food and drinks.
Yvon will be survived by his wife Marie Vatel, his children and step-children Yves Vatel, Maggie Eliacin, Angelie Assee, and Placide Vatel, his brothers and sisters Ginette Vatel Isaac, Serge Vatel, and Emmanuel Jacques Vatel, his grandchildren Carl, Jovani, Nigelie, Kadeem, Cody, Nigel Jr., Gregory, Malcom, Javian, Jazmin, Alexa, and Isabella, and many more family, friends, and loved ones.
Services will be held on Thursday November 21st as follows: viewing will begin at 9:00 am at St. Angela’s Church (1540 Blue Hill Ave Mattapan), followed by a service at 10:00 am. Procession will then continue on to Oak Lawn Cemetery (427 Cummins Highway) and followed by a repass at Montserrat Aspirers (358 Washington Street Boston).
Let us remember Yvon by this one quote, “I love my life”, as that truly epitomizes the gratitude and love that he had for the years that he spent on this earth.
