Patricia Ann Berksza (McGowan) age 88, of Norwood, formerly of Easton, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Ellis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late Raymond E. Berksza, Sr.
Born and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Roach) McGowan.
Patricia was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1954, which is also where she met her high school sweetheart, Raymond, who shared 61 happy years of marriage together. She considered herself his personal cheerleader.
Mrs. Berksza was a resident of Hot Springs, Arkansas for 21 years before returning home to Massachusetts.
She enjoyed knitting, reading, visiting Old Silver Beach and most of all loved her family. Spending time with those she loved is what made her the happiest in life. A lover of Dachshunds, she had many over the course of her life.
A special thanks to her home care providers over the years, who helped her stay in her home as long as humanly and humanely as possible. Also, many thanks to Fr. Mike Harvey, who made many visits to her home over the past decade, providing kind, gentle, and spiritual support to her that was greatly appreciated by her and her family.
Patricia is survived by her children, Dennis Berksza of Nashua, NH, Debra Coots and her husband Woody of Seward, AK, Jay Berksza and his wife Kristy of Norwood; a son in law, Kendall Hunter of California; five grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary, and Jacob Coots, Maggie and Charlie Berksza; two great grandchildren, Milena and Mason Coots; and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Raymond Berksza, Jr. and sister of the late Mary Eleanor Bearce, Jean McGowan, and Carole McGowan.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 10:30 am, in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 433 West Street, Brockton. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
