Obituary

Carol Fannelli Boti of Hopedale MA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, in Lee Massachusetts, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Milford MA, the daughter of John and Alberta Strobeck. Carol lived a life of deep faith, unwavering love, and service to others. She was 86.

Carol was predeceased by the love of her life and beloved husband of 37 years, Rocco Fannelli, with whom she shared a deep and lasting love, and in her later years husband John Boti, a dear companion, as well as her beloved sons John Smethurst and Joseph Fannelli, her granddaughter Kira, her brother Charles Strobeck, and her sisters Jean Goddeau and Patricia Angers.

She is survived by her sister Maryann Miller of Canaan NH. She was a loving mother to her surviving children: Rocco Fannelli of Franklin MA, Patricia Sexton (Darren) of Franklin MA, Lori Dutton (Greg) of Franklin MA, Lynn Racicot (Joseph) of Pittsfield MA, and Andrea Landry (James) of Whitman MA. Carol is also survived by her loving daughter-in-law, Sue Smethurst. She was a cherished grandmother to Jennifer, Lauren, Kaitlyn, Amanda, Jara, Maya, Patrick, Emily, Christopher, Jack, and Isabelle.

Carol lived a life full of adventure. She repeatedly served as a missionary in orphanages in Haiti, where her faith and generosity inspired countless lives. She was also deeply involved in her church communities, where she found purpose and joy in service and worship. A gifted musician, Carol brought warmth and joy through her talent as a pianist and accordionist, sharing her love of music with family, friends, and community. She performed with polka and country and western bands for many years. One of Carol’s greatest joys was gathering her grandchildren around the piano to play and sing. She especially loved playing “Mansion Over the Hilltop,” her voice and music filling the home with faith and love that will be deeply missed. Earthly possessions
meant nothing to Carol, which she proved so often by giving them away. We pray that her accordion still sings worship in the jungles of Haiti.

Services in celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Calvary Chapel in Rockland, Massachusetts. A visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, and a homecoming celebration at 11:00 AM. Followed by a burial at the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Life 4 Kids Children’s Home, Port-Au-Prince, Haiti.
