Maria (Sgouridis) Drosidis, 92 formerly of Paxton, died Thursday, November 14th at Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Her husband of 28 years, Nikolaos Drosidis died in 1980. She is survived by her two daughters, Zoi Drosidis of Oxford and Rodi Tsamis and her husband, Paul of Worcester; her two sisters, Dimitra (Toula) Alexander and her husband, Jimmy of Palm Harbor, FL and Theodora (Lola) Lamotte of Tarpon Springs, FL; her four grandchildren, Theodore, Maria, Nikki, Nicholas Tsamis and his wife, Beth; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her brother, Jordan Sgouridis and her sister, Connie Dimopoulos.
She was born in Hrisohorafa, Serron, Greece and came to the United States with her husband in 1967. She had at one time worked as a seamstress for the David Clark Company and later owned and operated Wayne's Pizza for many years before retiring. Mrs. Drosidis was a long-time member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and the Daughter's of Alexander the Great. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle nature, her warm smile, and her love for life. Her greatest joy was time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her funeral will be Tuesday, November 19th with her funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service in the Cathedral. O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family with arrangements.
