Alice “Ali” M. Schlemmer, 63, of Mann School Road, Smithfield, passed away on Tuesday November 12th in the Kent Hospital, Warwick.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late John D. and Mary V. (Donahue) Schlemmer. She had lived in Smithfield her whole life. She was a graduate of William M. Davies Career and Technical High School where she was a standout in the Future Farmers of America program.
Ali was the owner and operator of the Pine Ledge Stables and Ali’s Pony’s for Parties. She was her happiest being in her barn surrounded by her ponies. She enjoyed listening to country music, swimming, and giving pony rides and lessons.
She was the sister of John P. Schlemmer and his wife Cynthia of Center Habour, NH, Mary C. Della Torre and David J. Schlemmer and his wife Suzanne all of Burrillville, Virginia M. Schlemmer-Lavoie and her husband Henri, Ann M. Leach and her husband George, Theresa A. Garlacy and her husband Ted all of Smithfield.
She was the aunt of Kim Turner, Amy Barnard, John P. Schlemmer, Alison Thompson, Katie Leach, Ben Leach, Kristen Leach, Christina Morey and Adam Lavoie. She also leaves many grand nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held Monday November 18th at 10am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Smithfield. Her burial will follow in the Schlemmer Family Cemetery, Mann School Road, Smithfield. Visitation respectfully omitted.
