LACONIA ---- William ‘Bill’ Avery Sr., 84, of Weirs Boulevard, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Concord Hospital in Laconia.
Bill was born on September 25, 1940, in Lynn, MA, the son of William and Elizabeth (Forrest) Avery.
He was one of four founders; Oliver Ward, Frank Driscoll, Quinn Adams and himself, of Germanium Power Devices. The four of them had a vision in 1973 that surpassed all others in regards to transistors. Their teamwork with the help of William Dawson, enabled countless of employees to provide for their families. He was a proud co-owner of an airplane that he used for enjoyment and to follow one of his son’s hockey careers. He also enjoyed boating, jet skiing and traveling the world. His most passionate hobby was to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his kids, daughter Deborah Stevens and her husband Scott of Rindge, and William Avery Jr., and his wife Cassandra of Litchfield and Sean Avery and his wife Erica of Laconia, six grandchildren, Courtney Goddard, Kyle Stevens, Ashlee Stevens, Taylor McNeil, Emily Avery and Ryder Avery, five great-grandchildren, Lexi McNeil, Chloe McNeil, Jade Goddard, Cali Goddard and Maddox McNeil, and brother Doug Avery and his wife Kathy of El Cajon, CA. In addition to his parents, Bill is predeceased by his beloved wife Edna Avery.
Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 10:00am-12:00pm, in the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
A Service will be held at 12:00pm also at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield, Street, Laconia, NH.
For those who wish, the family suggests that memorial donations in the memory of Bill’s late wife, Edna Avery, be made to the ALS Association, NNE Chapter, 10 Ferry Street, Ste 438, Concord, NH 03301, or to your local food pantry as Bill spent his entire life and deeply believed in taking care of the less fortunate.
