Mary A. (Baravekas) Laing, 100, of Auburn, died on Sunday, November 10th in Life Care Center of Auburn. She leaves her daughter, Elaine Terlizzi of Auburn; a granddaughter, Cheryl Stevens of Hatfield; a nephew, Robert Bovick and his wife, Colleen; and a great nephew, Daniel Barsum and his wife, Emily and their daughter, Eveyln. She was predeceased by her husband, Alex J. Laing in 1966; and six siblings.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Andrew and Marjana (Sklutas) Baravekas. She worked in various capacities throughout her life but worked as a factory worker at Culver-Stearns Manufacturing Company before her well-earned retirement. A dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Mary found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished spending time with her family, whether it was enjoying a meal together at a favorite restaurant, catching the latest movie, playing bingo, or taking a trip to Foxwoods. A devoted member of St. Paul’s Cathedral, Mary volunteered many years at the church’s food pantry, offering her time and compassion to those in need. Her generosity and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the community she served so selflessly. Above all, Mary loved to laugh, and her sense of humor was a gift that brought warmth and joy to everyone around her. Mary’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Life Care Center of Auburn for the exceptional care and support she received in her final years.
Her funeral is Thursday, November 14th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, 194 Oxford Street North, Auburn. Please go directly to church. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster Street. There are no calling hours.
