Rosemarie "Rosey" (Boyle) Ryan, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life unexpectedly on Monday, November 11, 2024, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 82 years of age.
Rosey was born in Boston on April 11, 1942, a daughter of the late Mary A. (Mullaly) and retired Boston Firefighter James "Buttsy" McGrath. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated at St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1959. While growing up in Charlestown, she was a member of the Majestic Knights Drum & Bugle Corps Color Guard. Rosey worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Federal Government for many years. She was a member of The Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association and The Daughters of Isabella # 1. In her spare time, Rosey enjoyed reading, doing puzzles but most of all she enjoyed the quality time and special moments she shared with her husband, children and especially her grandchildren.
Rosey is the beloved wife of 61 years to Joseph F. "Joe" Ryan Jr. She is the devoted mother of Joseph F. "Jay" Ryan III, James E. Ryan and his wife Lisa and Christine Rizzo and her husband Paul. She is the loving Nana Rose & Nini to Kerri, Bobby, Kelseigh, Madison and Erica. She is the beloved sister of the late retired Boston Firefighter William "Billy" Boyle and his surviving wife Dodie. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Rosey's Funeral on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Her visiting hours will be on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 3 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
