George B. Slocum, age 73, of Douglas, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
Born on April 25, 1951, he was a son of the late George W. and Betty V. (Owens) Slocum.
He had joined HMEA in 1996. Prior to coming to HMEA, George lived at Glavin Regional Center in Shrewsbury, MA and a staffed apartment in Hubbardston and Worcester, MA. George is Ricci Class member, since he lived at Fernald School.
George loved his rock music and would tap his feet whenever a song came on that he liked. He was a quiet man but he enjoyed people watching and taking in his surroundings. He was a creature of habit and enjoyed his routines, especially relaxing at home in his chair after day program. He liked to get dressed up and go to events. He enjoyed going out to eat. And of course, his famous eyebrow wiggle!! He was also part of the advocacy group.
George leaves behind him his two roommates John and Steven and many care takers that will miss him dearly.
Friends are cordially invited to George’s home, 26 Charles Street in Douglas on Monday, November 25th at 11am for a celebration of his life.
