Obituary

Bernard F. Quinlan, 89, a longtime resident of Framingham, died Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the Eliot Rehabilitation Center in Natick. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Northrop) Quinlan who died in 2014.

Born in Boston on March 10, 1935, he was the son of the late Bernard and Eleanor (Travaglia) Quinlan.

Bernie grew up in Boston, raised his family in Franklin, and later moved to Framingham where he resided for many years.

Before his retirement, he was a self-employed contract builder.

Bernie enjoyed many hobbies such as fishing, gardening, woodworking and had an entire room dedicated to train sets.

Bernard was also an advocate for the Alcoholics Anonymous organization for 38 years and participated in a group known as The Barber Shop Group.

He is survived by two daughters Mary Jane Moyer and her husband Todd of Milton DE, and Suzanne Schmidlein and her husband Rick of Norfolk MA, his son Stephen Quinlan of Hopewell NJ, two stepchildren, Chrissy Murphy and her husband Aaron and David Gardner and his wife Karen of Albany NY, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was the father of the late Bernard and Matthew Quinlan.

The oldest of seventeen children, he is survived by his brothers and sisters Eleanora Morrison, Margaret Ormberg, Annie Quinlan, Kathleen D’Aniello, Gina Cuff, Bobby Quinlan, John Quinlan, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Bernie was predeceased by siblings Richard, James, William, Michael, Warren, Charles and Christopher Quinlan; Patricia Tammaro and Mary Louise Sanborn.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, November 18, from 2 – 4 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main Street in Franklin ginleyfuneralhomes.com followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. in the funeral home.
