Gordon John Doane, 76, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died unexpectedly Friday, November 8, 2024, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Evergreen Cemetery, in Fitzgerald, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 PM until the service hour.
Mr. Doane was born October 16, 1948 in Brewer, Maine, to the late Gordon Francis & Barbara Jean Sedgley Doane. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and retired from the Naval Reserve. He graduated from Maine Maritime Academy with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Mr. Doane retired as owner of Planters Tire & Auto, in Fitzgerald. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt. Mr. Doane was a man who could fix anything.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Haughey Doane of Fitzgerald; daughter: Catherine (David) Glover of Panama City, Florida and Virginia “Ginny” Kenny of Orrington, Maine; grandchildren: Melissa (Jon) Letourneau, John Chasse, Derek Pullen, Scott (Brittney) Pullen, Trina Glover, Kristen (John) Holskey and Caitlynn (Gracen) Malave`; great-grandchildren: Tyler Chasse, Natalie “Jay” Jordan, Chase Pullen, Cameron Letourneau, Josie Letourneau, Olivia Pullen, Noah Pullen, Aiden Pullen and Paisley Pullen; great-great-grandchildren: Averie Chasse, Athena Brown and Nova Russ; siblings: Gerald Doane of St. Pete, Florida, Frances Verow of Brewer, Maine, Cynthia Doane of Bangor, Maine and Richard Doane of North Carolina.
