Jose “Joe” Luis Viera, born December 21st, 1959, a gifted software engineer, Navy veteran, proud husband, father, and devoted grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Taunton, MA, on November 2, 2024. Originally from Manhattan, New York, Joe is remembered lovingly by his husband, James Nelson-Viera, his daughter, Nikita Lynn Valencia, his son, Brandon Lee Viera, and his adored grandchildren, Naima Rae and Raymond Angel. He also leaves behind his sisters, along with a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and their children.
Joe treasured his family above all, though he often yearned for closer bonds. Known for his generosity, he was always ready to help those in need. Music, travel, and fine cuisine brought him joy, and he was famous for his remarkable lasagna and appletinis. A skilled tinkerer, he took pride in his abilities as a coder and software developer, demonstrating his impressive resourcefulness. Joe enjoyed spirited political debates, and while his humor was often blunt, his infectious laughter softened his jokes and made them unforgettable.
