John C. Mastera, 90, of Dartmouth, peacefully passed away at home on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 with family by his side. He was the husband of the late Alma F. "Fran" (Kenyon) Mastera.
Mr. Mastera was born in Acushnet, son of the late Clarence and Florence (Norton) Mastera and had resided in Dartmouth since the 1950's. A veteran of the Korean War, he serviced his country in the U.S. Air Force. Prior to retirement, he worked for Acushnet Saw Mill Co. and in his later years, owned his own logging and firewood business and drove truck. Logging was something he truly enjoyed and will always be remembered for all the sawdust he brought along with him wherever he went. Anyone who knew John knows he was always on the go and up to something. His work ethic was of a supreme caliber.
Survivors include his 2 daughters: Sharon L. Mastera and her son Ethan of Dartmouth and Jodi A. Boulds and her children Zachary and Brooke of Dartmouth; his son of Dartmouth; 2 sisters: Margaret Westgate of Freetown and Patricia Holt of NM; his daughter-in-law: Lynn Mastera and her sons Dan and L.J. : special friends near and dear to his heart Lisa and Joe Fernandes, Conrad and Flo DesRoches, Gomes, Aoife, the Booker’s and the “Dignitaries”; along with many other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Darleen S. Mastera and brother of the late Francis Norton, Frank Mastera and Rachael Amaral.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dartmouth Friends of the Elderly in memory of John Mastera.
