A proud U.S. Army veteran, Walter served his country with honor in Germany during the Korean War, exemplifying the courage and commitment that would define his entire life.
Ansley was a skilled and respected brick mason whose craftsmanship still stands as a testament to his talent. Beyond his work, he embraced life on the open road, traveling North America on his motorcycle, often towing a popup camper to savor the beauty of the countryside. He enjoyed the journey as much as the destination. His passion for exploration was shared with dear friends and fellow enthusiasts as an active member of the International Brotherhood of Motorcycle Campers.
A true animal lover, Ansley always found joy and companionship in the company of his dogs, each one a loyal partner throughout his life. His special companion, Grover, remains as a symbol of the profound connection Ansley shared with his four-legged friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Alton Baker Dorminey and Kathleen (Jones) Dorminey; his daughter, Gail (Dorminey) Hendrickson; his brother, Darrell Dorminey; and his sister, Shirley (Dorminey) Munoz. Ansley's legacy lives on through those he leaves behind: his son, Chris Dorminey and wife Vanessa; his daughter, Sherrie (Dorminey) Whitmire; and his sister, Barbara (Dorminey) Sanders and husband David.
Ansley shared a special relationship with his granddaughter, Elizabeth (Dorminey) Courtney, lovingly called Bessie, and her husband Justin. Ansley raised Elizabeth from a toddler as his own. His other grandchildren are Samantha Dorminey, Lee Willis, Brandi Lightsey, Vince Hester, Georganne Roberts, Amy Swords, William Swords, and Ruby Manning.
Walter Ansley Dorminey will be remembered for his dedication to family, his adventurous spirit, and the love he shared with family and friends. His legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and a life lived with open-hearted passion will forever inspire those who knew and loved him.
