V. Deanese (Gilbert) Friend, 73, of Anderson died at Northview Health and Living, November 4, 2024 after an extended illness.
She was born August 21, 1951 in Langdale, Alabama, the daughter of Lloyd and Merle (Smith) Gilbert.
She was a clinical lab technician at hospital in Rolla, Missouri; lab technician in doctor's offices, a flight attendant then a tissue bank specialist at Indiana Tissue Bank.
She loved setting a pretty table and serving a meal for family and friends; camping with family and friends; visiting with family and friends and singing with the Madison County Music Maker's Choir.
Survivors include her husband, James Friend of Anderson whom she married July 7, 1990; children: Julie (Brian) Underhill of Willard, Missouri, Neal (Cindy) Arthur of Rolla, Missouri, Lloyd "Tony" (Brandi) Arthur of Neosho, Missouri, Jeff (Cyndee) Friend of Anderson, Janet Porter (Ron Brown) of Everett, Washington, and Jason (Jayna) Friend of Anderson; grandchildren, Drew Underhill of Grand Junction, Colorado, Claire Underhill of Willard, Missouri, Brodie and Dane Arthur of Neosho, Missouri, Cody (Mandi) Friend of Pendleton, Jake (Katie) Friend of Lapel, Justin (Ericka) Porter of Cincinnati, Ohio, Nathan Porter of Oak Harbor, Washington, Tyler Porter of Marysville, Washington, Kelli Brown of Roy, Washington, Justin Brown of Everett, Washington, Jesse Friend and Jordyn Friend both of Anderson; great grandchildren, Clay, Maggie, Marlie and Waylon Friend, Ayden, Kaia, and Jameson Porter.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial service 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service West Chapel with Pastor Ken Mishler officiating. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11-1 Friday, prior to the service.
