DUDLEY – Stanley M.” Bacon” Grzyb, 94, died Saturday, November 2, 2024 at home after a period of declining health. His beloved wife of 67 years, Hazel M. (Arel) Grzyb, died in 2023.
He leaves 4 children, Susan L. Grzyb of Dudley, Sharon A. Basso and her husband Keith of Smyrna Beach, FL, Robert A. Grzyb of Webster, and Bruce M. Grzyb and his wife Michele of Dudley; 3 grandchildren, Adam Grzyb, Brandon Grzyb and Delaney Basso; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by siblings Anthony Slosek, Alice Mason and Charlotte Dudek.
He was born at home on Brandon Road on August 12, 1930 to Michael and Louise (Grondelski) Grzyb and was a lifelong resident. He attended Worcester Boys Trade School and graduated from Bartlett Trade School in Webster in 1948.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
Stanley first worked as a union carpenter for Local #107 for ten years. He then operated his own building and remodeling company for about 30 years. Before retiring, he was a custodian at Hubbard Regional Hospital in Webster for 2 years.
He was a member of Saint Andrew Bobola Church and of the Webster-Dudley Knights of Columbus Council #228. He took great pride in building his own home. He enjoyed gardening, polka dancing and going on camping trips with the family. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, November 16, at 11:00 in Saint Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main Street (please meet at the church). Military honors will be provided by the Webster-Dudley Veterans Council. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster.
