Obituary

KANA Ellen M. (Murray) of Norwood, passed away suddenly on November 1, 2024. Loving mother of Melanie R. Kana of Norwood, and Audrey E. Nestor of Tewksbury. Loving nana of Drew Nestor. Sister of John Murray and his wife Barbara of Dighton, and Maryanne Chase and her husband Mitch of AZ. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Her love of the Catholic faith came first, and therefore She never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was kind, humble and generous to a fault and was the best at keeping secrets. She made friends where ever she went, on her walks (a favorite pastime), at the grocery store, out for dinner. She had a particular love of children and would do any silly thing just to get them to laugh even if she didn’t know them.

Her deep affection for her grandson was immense. When he was younger, she would play in the leaves with him and have light saber battles with him. As he got older, she would go to his baseball games and always thought the world of him.

She worked at Boston College for 24 years until she retired in 2017. Everyone adored her and she would always talk about how much she loved her job working with the students.

Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson - Cannon Funeral Home 456 High St. Dedham on Thursday, Nov. 7th from 4-7pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Friday, Nov. 8th at 12noon, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church, Dedham at 1pm. Interment private.
