STANDISH- Glenn P. Barker, 69
A beloved “local legend” in Standish, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 3, 2024. He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Freda Barker; his children, Brian and his wife Diana of Windham, Justin Barker of Standish, and Brandi and her husband Jhonathan Herrera of Florida; as well as his grandchildren, Chloe, Nathan, Abbie, and Nolan. He is also survived by his brother, Clayton Barker and wife Roxy of Standish, and his sister, Earlene and her husband Ronald of Phippsburg, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
His family was often the topic of conversation, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved deeply and cherished every moment he had with them.
For the past 35 years, Glenn began each morning reading the obituaries at TJ’s Sandwich Shop, “looking for his name,” while enjoying coffee with an old-fashioned donut and social hour with friends. Glenn made his living through his passion for cars, running Barker’s Auto Repair and Service for 35 years. Known for his generosity, he often bartered his skills to help customers during hard times. While he loved working on cars, everyone knew it was the people and relationships that kept him coming back.
Glenn was a caring and compassionate man, always willing to help anyone, no matter the circumstances. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
We will be holding a celebration of life for Glenn on November 9, 2024, from 1 pm to 4 pm at Living Stone Community Church at 711 Ossipee Trail W, Standish, ME.
