Franklin K. "Frank" Beeler MD

Franklin K. “Frank” Beeler, 99, passed away at Primrose Retirement Community on October 30, 2024. He was the son of Katherine (Sloan) and William C. Beeler, the second of twins born on February 12, 1925 in Anderson. He had one older brother, Donald, who was two years older.
Dr. Beeler graduated from Anderson High School in 1943 and served in the US Army during WW II from 1943- 1946. He graduated from Indiana University in 1949 (BS) and in 1952 (MD). After serving an internship at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lafayette, he was a family physician in Pendleton and Anderson for 42 years, retiring in 1995.
Dr. Beeler married Jayne L. Burgoyne on November 2, 1957 and they had two children, daughter, Angela and son, William.
Dr. Beeler was a life member of the American Academy of Family Practice, and Charter Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He served as president of the Madison County Medical Society, Director of Medical Education at St. John’s Hospital (1980-85), and Chief of Staff at St. John’s Hospital in 1968, 1976, 1977.
He was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church, where he had served as a deacon and elder. He was a member and past president of Anderson Country Club and had served as a board member and medical director for Layman Life Insurance Company. Dr. Beeler enjoyed golfing, fishing trips, and traveling with family and friends. In his retirement years he also enjoyed furniture building as a hobby.
He is survived by his wife, Jayne; daughter Angela (husband Jeff) Smith; son, Bill (wife Laura) Beeler; grandchildren Elyse Smith, Brandon Smith, Lauren (husband Matt) Stapleton, and Julia Beeler; and several nieces and nephews.
Dr. Beeler was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald and twin brother, Frederick.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at 2 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 230 West 9th Street, Anderson, IN, 46016, officiated by Pastor Joy Edeker. Visitation with the family will take place from noon until the time of the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to First Presbyterian Church.
