John W. Tomberlin, 89, of Cordele, Georgia, died Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Fellowship Home in Cordele, Georgia.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Tomberlin was born August 6, 1935, in Wilcox County, Georgia, to the late John H. & Elva Tomberlin. He was married to his late wife Emma Jane Tomberlin for 71 years. Mr. Tomberlin worked at Georgia Pacific in Vienna, Georgia, before returning and becoming a farmer. Mr. Tomberlin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather; brother and uncle.
He is survived by his three sons: James & Michelle Tomberlin of Cordele, John Tomberlin of Jacksonville, and Jonathan & Madison Tomberlin of Valdosta; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; four sisters: Betty Bex, Helon Love, Mary Emma, Gussie Hawkins and one brother, Bruce Tomberlin. Mr. Tomberlin had friends at the Fellowship Home: Ellie Hart, Pattie Hayslip and the rest of the workers at the Fellowship Home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Emma Jane Tomberlin; two brothers: Robert Tomberlin and Bill Tomberlin and one sister, Mayme Jane Duvaul.
Mr. Tomberlin had a very special place in his heart for his daughter-in-law, Michelle Tomberlin, who made a promise to his late wife Emma Jane Tomberlin to take care of him for her until the end.
